Preparations have been made for the 22nd Congress on the Law of the World slated for Beijing and Shanghai during Sept. 4-10, China's chief grand justice Xiao Yang said in Beijing Saturday.

"We're full of confidence in hosting this grand meeting of the international law circles," said Xiao, also president of China's Supreme People's Court.

According to him, more than 450 foreign law experts have confirmed to be attending, including 34 top judges or presidents of supreme courts.

Xiao said at a preparatory meeting more than 1,500 Chinese and foreign judges, public prosecutors, legists, law professors, lawyers and other personnel from the law circle are expected to attend the conference.

Important foreign guests would also include five justice ministers, one chief public prosecutor and six heads of international law organizations.

The participants will discuss topics of international concern such as the status, role and reform of the United Nations, the international to combat terrorism and human rights.

Hosting the conference would help the outside world learn more about China and help the Chinese better understand the progress in law studies in the world, said Xiao.
