Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababawill host two international meetings discussing civil aviation in Africa, the authorities said Saturday.
Eyob Estifanos, acting head of air transport and planning department with the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority, told journalists that the meetings would be held as of next Monday.
The 11th Aviation and Allied Business Leadership Conference, the first of its kind to be held in Ethiopia, will discuss ways offurther enhancing aviation industry, he said.
The conference, whose theme is "Air-Transport in Africa: Translating Vision Into Action," is organized by the country's civil aviation authority.
Some 250 top government officials, decision makers in the global aviation industry are expected to attend the conference, he said.
Meanwhile, the 18th African Union Civil Aviation Commission extraordinary session is the other meeting, which Addis Ababa is expected to host, according to Eyob.
Addis Ababa is thought to be one of Africa's major air link centers because the country boasts Ethiopian Airlines, a major international air carrier and the largest African airline.
