Kim Yeon-Ok, a businesswoman from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, has been busy negotiating with scores of traders from different countries a day at the ongoing first China Jilin Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo held in Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin province.

The DPRK delegation, with over 120 representatives from more than 30 companies, became the focus of the current session.

The DPRK's enthusiasm in participating in trade expo showed that the country would like to seek international economic cooperation and boost its economic reform, according some experts.

"The DPRK boasts rich natural resources, and is working to creat a good investment climate," said Lee Hak-Kwon, an official in charge of industry and commerce federation.

In order to attract foreign capital, the DPRK established Rajin-Sonbong Economic and Trade Zone in 1991, and set up Sinuiju Economic Zone, Mountain Kumkang Tourist Zone and Kaesong Industrial Zone after July 2002. At present, more than ten companies from the Republic of Korea (ROK) have been set up in Kaesong Industrial Zone.

During the Northeast Asia trade expo, officials of the DPRK delegation visited some economic development zones in Jilin province in order to learn from China's experience on economic reform.

Meanwhile, the DPRK has sent some people to Shanghai, Shenzhen, China's first special economic zone, and Yanbian, to compare notes with people there.
