font size

China will set up 34 sites nationwide to conduct routine cholera monitoring, according to a cholera monitoring plan issued by the Ministry of Health on Monday.

The aim of the plan is to enhance cholera monitoring, discover new cases in time, confirm source of epidemic diseases and learn rules of cholera, the plan said.

Two monitoring sites will be built in each of the 17 regions including Hainan, Guangdong, Shanghai, Beijing, Sichuan, Chongqing and Xinjiang.

Cholera is a kind of acute intestinal infectious disease caused by cholerae vibrio, which spreads through water and food.
