Chinese vice premier meets president of Chartered Bank

Chinese Vice Premier Huang Ju met in Beijing on September 5 with Bryan Sanderson, president of the Chartered Bank of Britain.

Huang said the Chinese government has adopted a series of policies and measures in the financial sector, including reforming of the interest rates, adopting a new floating exchange rate system and conducting joint-stock reforms of China's commercial banks.

"We hope international financial institutions will enhance exchanges and cooperation with China's financial sector to further boost the growth of the Chinese financial industry," Huang said.

The vice premier also briefed Sanderson on China's macro-economic and financial situation.
