The Jiu San (September 3) Society, one of China's eight non-communist parties, held a conference marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the society in Beijing Tuesday.
The practice of 60 years has proved that the Jiu San Society is an experienced and close friend party of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), on behalf of the CPC Central Committee.
"The Jiu San Society plays an important part not only in the construction of a socialist economy, politics and culture, but also in the cause of national unification and rejuvenation," he said.
The opportunities and challenges China is facing not only recommend the firm leadership of the CPC, but also the joint efforts made by all Chinese people, including the non-communist parties, he noted.
In his speech, Jia also expressed his hope that the Jiu San Society will play a full role in cooperation with the CPC, and make greater contributions to the society.
Han Qide, chairman of the central committee of the Jiu San Society and vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, also recalled the history of the party at the conference, and called on members of the Jiu San Society to exert efforts in building a well-off society and realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
The conference also invited representatives of other non-communist parties and conferred honorary medals to its outstanding grassroots organizations and senior members.
