China and the United States should further promote relations between the two armed forces, said Chinese Vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission Guo Boxiong in Beijing Tuesday.
Guo said in a meeting with Commander of the US Pacific Command William J. Fallon that with concerted efforts, relations between the two armed forces have maintained good momentum.
"China and the United States should increase dialogue, expand cooperation to further promote relations between the two countries and the two armed forces, " he said.
Guo also expounded China's stance over the Taiwan issue to US guests.
Fallon said the United States values the friendly cooperation with the Chinese army, and hopes that the two sides would further expand cooperation and bring benefits to people of the two countries.
The United States does not change its stance over the Taiwan issue, Fallon said, noting that the United States adheres to the one-China policy and hopes peacefully solve the Taiwan issue.
Liang Guanglie, CMC member and chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, also held a meeting with Fallon, saying that the Chinese army is ready to enhance exchanges and cooperation with the US side, so as to achieve new development in relations between the two armed forces.
