The first Euro-Asia Economic Forum is set to be held in mid November in Xi'an, capital city of northwest China's Shaanxi Province in a bid to promote exchanges between China, Russia and their neighboring Central Asian nations.
The two-day forum, scheduled to open Nov. 10, will focus on cooperation in the fields of infrastructural construction, energy exploitation, financial markets and tourism.
At the Joint sponsorship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and China Development Bank (CDB), the forum is expected to attract 800 politicians and senior officials in charge of various sectors, entrepreneurs and experts from Asian nations, particularly central Asian countries.
The trend of regional economic cooperation in Asia has been on the rise in recent years, and the pressing task now is to transform potential into real achievements, said Zhang Deguang, secretary-general of SCO.
