Security meeting on Straits of Malacca, Singapore opens in Jakarta

An international meeting on the Straits of Malacca and Singapore organized jointly by Indonesia and the International Maritime Organization opened here Wednesday.

The two-day event aims to strengthen international cooperation to enhance safety, security and environmental protection in both straits.

Representatives from 29 countries, including China, and observers from inter-government and non-government organizations attended the meeting, which was opened by Indonesian Minister of Transportation Hatta Radjasa.
