font size

Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan met Wednesday in Xiamen with Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), who is attending the ninth China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT).

He said since Macao's return to the motherland five years ago, the economy in Macao has maintained continuous growth and the society has been stable with the leadership of the Macao SAR government.

Zeng said he hopes Macao can strengthen the cooperation with the mainland, especially its neighboring region around the Pearl River.

The central government will adhere to the policy of "one country, two systems", "Macao people governing Macao" and a high degree of autonomy in Macao, and support Ho and his government to maintain a long-term prosperity in Macao, Zeng said.

The ninth China International Fair for Investment and Trade will open Thursday.
