Wolf Totem copyright transferred at high price
font size

The Changjiang Literature and Art Publishing House has recently succeeded in transferring the global English language copyright of Wolf Totem to the Penguin Group, which means the synchronized publishing of the book in English-speaking countries in 2007. It is the first Chinese publication whose global English-language copyright is bought out at one time. It is also the first time that a contemporary Chinese literary work enters the mainstream English cultural market in such a large scale.

With the 10 percent royalties income and $100,000 advance payment the English copyright export of Wolf Totem has set the record in China in terms of publication copyright trade royalties and is unprecedented in Chinese authors' export of publication copyrights. The successful case will be of "landmark" significance in China's copyright export history.
