Two people were killed on Saturday when a jet crashed at a Vereeniging airstrip, about 60 kmsouth of Johannesburg, South African Press Association reported.

Gareth Stadler, a spokesperson for emergency service company, said it was uncertain what had caused the accident.

"The pilot might have lost control. We cannot say for sure whathappened," he said.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said that it would investigate the cause of the jet crash.
