A Slovenian delegation embarked on Saturday a one-week visit to China to promote economic cooperation with the Asian country, according to reports from the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana.
The delegation, head by Ljubljana Mayor Danica Simsic, consists of government officials and representatives of 22 Slovenian companies, the Slovene Press Agency reported, adding that the delegation will visit Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai.
Simsic is expected to sign a memorandum of understanding with her Shanghai counterpart as well as open business conferences in Beijing and Chengdu.
Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry officials said that since 1999 the chamber has been systematically building economic ties with China by organizing yearly visits between the two countries.
Currently there are 20 Slovenian companies and 12 representational offices operating in China.
