Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Hiroyuki Hosoda said Monday that Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi has no intention to reshuffle the current cabinet by the end of a special parliament session.

The ruling bloc decided to convene the special session next Wednesday, according to Kyodo News.

Koizumi will head for the United States to attend a three-day UN summit meeting starting from Sept. 14. in New York, Hosoda said.

Koizumi met with Takenori Kanzaki, leader of the ruling partner New Komeito party, early Monday. They affirmed the continuation of a joint government despite the Liberal Democratic Party's majority just achieved in Sunday's lower house election, the report said.

The ruling bloc won a landslide victory, grabbing 327 seats in the 480-seat lower house on Monday. The LDP alone attained an absolute majority of 296 seats.

The two party leaders also agreed that the passage of the postal reform bills in the parliament will be their top priority, the report said.
