China's consumer price grew up 1.3 percent year-on-year in August, according to figures from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

The statistics released here Monday showed the consumer price in cities increased 1.2 percent and that in rural areas rose 1.5 percent.

The consumer price grew up 0.2 percent over the previous month while that in the January-August period climbed 2.1 percent year-on-year.

In a breakdown, prices of food went up 0.9 percent year-on-year, while that of non-food goods were up 1.5 percent.

Prices of consumer goods increased 0.5 percent year-on-year and that of service rose 4.0 percent, according to the statistics.
