A team of US World War II veterans, including 40-plus members of the renowned "Flying Tigers", visited a cemetery for aviation martyrs of WWII and paid homage to the martyrs in Nanjing Monday.

The US volunteer group fighting in China during WWII, usually known as "Flying Tigers", was organized by Claire Lee Chennault in 1941. Between December 1941 and September 1945, the "Flying Tigers" helped Chinese people in the war of resistance against Japanese aggression.

The aviation martyrs cemetery in Nanjing is the final rest place for more than 3,000 pilots from China, the Soviet Union and the United States who gave their lives in China's war of resistance against Japanese aggression. About 2,000 of the martyrs were pilots from the United States.
