Cholera cases soared in August

China's Ministry of Health issued on Monday a report on nationwide epidemic situation in August. Statistics of the ministry showed more cases of cholera, malaria and anthrax occurred in the month compared with the same period of last year.

The number of cholera cases was 116, much more than the same period of last year. There mainly happened several big epidemic outbreaks due to dinner parties in rural areas. In addition, the ministry reported 140 anthrax cases nationwide, including 139 skin anthrax cases and resulting in four deaths.
