The Highways Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) signed a 120-million-HK-dollar (15.38 million US dollars) contract with Cavendish Construction Limited on Tuesday for the management of the public lighting systems in parts of Hong Kong.

The contract also includes the operation, installation and maintenance of the public lighting systems on Hong Kong Island and Lamma Island, according to a government press release.

Acting Deputy Director of Highways Chow Ying-shun signed the contract on behalf of the government.

This is a four-year contract from October 2005 to September 2009. The works include road lighting, gantry sign lighting, roadside directional sign lighting and the associated network of cables, ducts and peripheral items.
