A delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC) led by Yu Zhengsheng, party chief of Hubei province, arrived in Zambia Tuesday for a two-day visit to further boost ties between the two countries and that between CPC and the Zambian ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD).

While meeting with Yu, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Zambian Vice President Lupando Mwape hailed the close bilateral relations between the two countries, as indicated by the increasing number of visits by leaders from both sides.

He thanked China for its assistance to Zambian over the past decades, saying that Zambia will forever remain indebted to China for such assistance.

The Zambian leader said his government has identified agriculture, mining and tourism as key economic sectors and hoped that more Chinese business men and women will come to invest in Zambia.

Mwape said his government will firmly stand by the "One China" policy and support China's reunification.

Yu Zhengsheng thanked Zambia for its support to China on the Taiwan issue, human rights.

He said as a developing country, China will continue striving to improve friendly cooperation with Zambia and other developing countries, including providing them with assistance.

China also encourages its businesses to invest in Zambia for the mutual benefits and common development of the two countries and the two peoples, he said.

Earlier Tuesday, Yu and his delegation also met with MMD National Chairman Michael Mabenga, Information and Broadcasting Services Minister Vernon Mwanga and Defense Minister Wamundila Muliokela.

Zambia is the first leg of the CPC delegation's African tour. It will also visit Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
