font size

The US destroyer "Curtis Wilbur" arrived in the east China's port city of Qingdao, kicking off a four-day goodwill visit from September 13-16 to the city.

That is the eighth visit to the city by US naval vessels.

The destroyer, with a crew of 311, is from the US Pacific Fleet and headed by captain John T. Lauer.

Lauer and his crewmen, were welcomed by the North China Fleet of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and officials from Qingdao government at a function upon their arrival.

During the visit, navy men from the two countries are expected to visit each other's vessels and play basketball and hold tug-of-war contests.
