East line of South-to-North water diversion project under renovation

The renovation of Jiangdu station, the initial project of the east line of South-to-North water diversion project has officially kicked off and is scheduled to complete in December 2005.

Zhang Jinsong, deputy director of South-to-North water diversion project office noted that the current renovation, with a total investment of 266 million yuan, will upgrade of Jiangdu 3rd, 4th stations and transformer substation, reinforce Jiangdu west dam as well as dredge the waterway in west dam. The working efficiency of the units will be further improved upon its completion so as to meet the demand of water supply of the east line first phase project.
