HK to hold "World Wine Week"

Watson's Wine Cellar -- Hong Kong's top chain-retailer of wine is to sponsor a "World Wine Week" between Oct. 31 and Nov. 4, with the cooperation the five-star JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong.

James Hepple, manager of the Retail Division of Watson's Wine Cellar, said on Wednesday that 52 of the world's celebrated wine makers and vineyards from 11 world most famous wine-making countries will attend the wine week.

He said, they will showcase a total of 354 kinds of wine of 92 brands made in France, Argentine, German, Hungary, Italy, Portugal and some other countries.

Hepple said hundreds of wine businessmen and hotel representatives have been invited to the activity.

Christian Abell, director of Food and Beverage of JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong, said not only the wine businessmen, but also ordinary citizens will have a chance to taste a wide range of wine and exquisitely prepared culinary masterpieces during the week.

Watson's Wine Cellar is the wine stores of the transitional corporation -- Hutchison Whampoa Limited run by Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing.

It not only has 14 chain stores in Hong Kong but is also the wine provider for all chain stores of Parknshop, one of biggest chain supper markets in Hong Kong, also affiliated to Hutchison Whampoa.
