Tibet reports record-breaking tourism revenue

Because of increasing opening-up and strong tourism promotion, Tibet's tourism has experienced a boom in recent years. Tibet witnessed a record-breaking tourist inflow and tourism revenue during the first eight months in 2005. About 1.15 million tourists visited Tibet during the eight months, 26 percent more than the same period of last year, with the tourism revenues climbing to 1.15 billion RMB yuan (138,554 US dollars).
