Mexican gov't hails Chinese president's visitThe recently concluded state visit by Chinese President Hu Jintao has further promoted and cemented the strategic partnership between Mexico and China, the Mexican Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The two countries have conducted high-level dialogue frequently since Mexican President Vicente Fox's visit to China in June 2001, the statement said. President Hu's visit, which followed tours by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in December 2003 and Vice President Zeng Qinghong in January 2005, has pushed forward the political dialogues between the leaders of the two countries, it said. China, as an ascending political and economic power in the Asia-Pacific region, plays an important role in the international arena, said a Mexican Foreign Ministry spokesman. The Mexican government gives priority to the development of ties with China, he said. Mexico and China share similar views on major international issues, including United Nations reforms, and have maintained positive cooperation in international organizations such as the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, the spokesman said. The two countries will further boost their cooperation in the fields of trade, economy, culture and education after the Chinese president's visit, he added. President Hu visited Mexico on Sept. 11 to 13 before flying to New York for a UN summit. Source: Xinhua |
