China Radio International delegation arrives in Kathmandu

A two-member delegation of China Radio International (CRI) Nepali Service has arrived in Kathmandu to participate in a prize distribution function, a Nepal based CRI reporter said Thursday.

"A delegation led by Zou Zhoujun, chief of the CRI Nepali service, including Zhang Yue, deputy-chief of the Nepali service, will attend the prize distribution function on Sept. 17 in Kathmandu," Dhruba Paudel, CRI reporter in Nepal, told Xinhua.

A total of 60 Nepali listeners won different categories prizes at a quiz contest organized by the CRI Nepali Service, which is to mark the Golden Jubilee of Nepal-China diplomatic ties and 30th anniversary of the CRI Nepali service, Paudel revealed.

The delegation arrived here at the invitation of CRI Listeners Clubs' Nepal, a non-governmental friendship organization of Nepal, Paudel noted, adding, "The delegation will also participate in various programs to be organized in Bharatpur city of central Chitwan district, some 100 km west of Kathmandu, and in Pokhara city of western Kaski district, some 200 km west of Kathmandu, next week."

"We hope our visit will further strengthen the existing friendship between Nepal and China from the peoples level, as our program is mainly focused on Nepalese people," Zou told Xinhua.

CRI started to broadcast its Nepali language service since June 25, 1975, and now it has one-hour-long program and is broadcast for three times everyday. There are more than 500 listeners clubs of CRI in Nepal, working as friendship organizations, Paudel added.
