Chinese police receive 204,000 visitors, petitioners in four months

China's public security organs have received 204,000 visitors and petitioners who came to appeal for government intervention over the past four months, a police spokesman said in Beijing Thursday.

The police have settled the cases of 192,000 of visitors and petitioners to their satisfaction by now, said Wu Heping, spokesman of the Ministry of Public Security.

In a nationwide campaign since May this year, chiefs of Chinese public security bureaus have dedicated one or two days per month to receiving visitors who come for help.
