    China exports sightseeing submarine to Thailand

    Two China-made sightseeing submarine named "Haitai-1" and "Haitai-2" are being shipped to Thai city Pattaya, a resort by the sea at the Dalian Port Sept 15, 2005. The 23.5-meter-long submarine can carry 48 people onboard. This is the first time China exports sightseeing submarine.

    Kanas, fairyland on earth

    Tourists sightsee the Kanas Nature Reserve, 150 kilometers north of Burqin in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, September 14, 2005. The reserve is famous for the Kanas Lake, China's deepest alpine lake with a depth of 188.5 meters. The reserve with a total area of 5,588 square kilometers is a tourism destination.

    China rout S. Korea to reach final

    Chinese super centre Yao Ming shoots in the semi-finals of the men's Asian Basketball Championships on Sep 15. Chinese men's basketball team reached final with a 44-point margin against arch rival S. Korea in the Asian Championship in Doha, Qatar.

    Sophie Marceau attends Beijing film premiere

    French superstar Sophie Marceau attended China's premiere of "Anthony Zimmer," a French blockbuster she starred in, in Beijing on Thursday. Besides "Anthony Zimmer," Sophie also wants to share another three movies with her Chinese fans, including the 11-minute "L'Aube a l'envers" and "Speak to Me of Love", both written and directed by Sophie, and "See You Tonight" which she starred in.

    PICC P&C named 2008 Olympic partner

    PICC Property and Casualty Co. Ltd. was named the official insurance partner of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games on Sep 15. The largest non-life insurer in China, PICC P&C was the 10th company to join the elite club of the 2008 Olympic partners, following in the footsteps of Germany's automobile giant Volkswagen, Sinopec, PetroChina and Bank of China, etc.

    Six-party talks show little sign of progress

Negotiators from six countries will try again on Thursday to break a deadlock in talks designed to end North Korea's nuclear arms programme, but there is little sign of an end to a nearly three-year-old crisis. The negotiations in Beijing between the United States, North Korea, South Korea, Japan, Russia and host China enter a third day with an impasse over Pyongyang's insistence on a right to nuclear energy programmes for civilian use.
