Philippine former first lady Imelda Marcos said on Thursday that she is against the auction of her jewelry collection under the government's seizure, making legal preparations to stop the process.
Mrs. Marcos said that her lawyers are set to file a motion to stop Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) from auctioning off her jewelry.
Mrs. Marcos flew to Manila on Thursday noon, with no intention to speak to the press, except to say that she was leaving it up to her lawyers to decide what course of action should be taken.
The auction is scheduled in November, 2005.
The jewels were seized by the government shortly after former president Marcos and his wife were forced to flee the country in 1986. The PCGG estimates the value of the jewels around 10 million dollars.
