US announces date for new US-China talks on textiles trade
font size

The US government said on Thursday that it will hold a new round of negotiations with China on textiles trade in Washington on September 26-27. The US Trade Representative office announced that the US delegations will be led by David Spooner, the chief US negotiator on textiles trade. The new meeting comes after US-Chinese textile talks in Beijing ended late last month without an agreement.

Meanwhile, the US textile industry asked the US government on Thursday for new safeguards against the Chinese exports. A coalition of industry organizations filed petitions with the US government demanding the renewal of nine quota safeguards covering sixteen categories of textile imports from China through to the end of 2006.
