Eighty cities have confirmed to attend the 2005 Asia Pacific Cities Summit(APCS2005), which is to be staged from October 11 in Chongqing, southwest China's municipality.

The cities are from 34 countries and China's Taiwan Province, Hong Hong and Macao special administrative regions, according to sources with the organizing committee.

Nearly 500 news reporters of 115 media units have signed up to cover APCS2005.

The four-day event is the fifth summit of this kind. Mayors and experts will exchange their viewpoints on city development in Asia-Pacific region, focusing on the theme "City, Person and Nature".

Asia Pacific Cities Summit was first held in Australia in 1996.
