Beijing's central business district (CBD) in Chaoyang District, has an ambitious plan to build a media-intensive hub. It will be composed of eight sub-centers with each for a different, specific purpose: print media, TV and films, digital media, advertisement, books and audio & visual products distribution, media education and animation, cultural innovation, convention & exhibition and media service.
The local CBD authority has drafted a blueprint which integrates cultural industry, a national filming production and transaction and international cultural exchange into the world-class cultural media center.
Priorities will be given to the development of "three centers": the center for film and TV production and transaction, the center for advertising, and the center for publishing, distribution and copyright deals.
The district is also expected to boost the growth of the cultural and entertainment services in its neighboring areas and the exports of China's cultural products.
