Hong Kong to display fireworks on National Day

Hong Kong will hold a fireworks display over the Victoria Harbor on Oct. 1 to celebrate the 56th anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China, said the sponsor Thursday.

The Federation of Hong Kong Chiu Chow Community Organizations, an influential society with famous members like Li Ka-shing, said the purpose of sponsoring the fireworks is to celebrate the National Day of our motherland together with the citizens of Hong Kong and tourists from overseas.

The Chairman of the Organizations Choi Hin To told reporters the theme of this year's fireworks display is "Unity" and "Joyfulness", which carries a strong message to encourage local people to contribute to the stability and prosperity of Hong Kong.

According to the organizer, the fireworks display with a cost of 3 million Hong Kong dollars has 12 scenes and will last 23 minutes, including the 9th scene "One World One Dream", wishing the Beijing Olympic Games a great success and the last scene "Love our Motherland", wishing all the bests to the home country and Hong Kong.
