    2005 Pingyao International Photography Festival opens

    Chinese and foreign photographers share their experience during the opening ceremony of the 2005 Pingyao International Photography Festival in Pingyao, an ancient city in north China's Shanxi Province, Sept. 16, 2005. The festival, the only international event of its kind held in China, was opened on Sept. 16, with nearly 10,000 works exhibited. First held in 2001, the annual festival has become an important platform for international cultural exchanges.
