China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) on Friday vowed to step up their cooperation in police affairs and to jointly fight against cross-border crimes and terrorism.

China and the ROK will enhance friendly exchanges in police affairs and deepen cooperation in cracking down on cross-border crimes, fighting terrorism and non-traditional cooperation, said Zhou Yongkang, Chinese minister of public security.

Zhou, also Chinese state councilor, said the cooperation will be beneficial to China-ROK relations as well as regional and world security and stability.

Zhou made the remarks while meeting with Huh Joon Young, the visiting ROK National Police Agency chief.

Zhou said China-ROK relations have kept developing in a healthy and stable manner, which is in the interests of two peoples of the two countries.

Zhou hoped the two sides could continue to enhance mutual trust, deepen cooperation and jointly promote bilateral relations.

Huh said the ROK attaches importance to cooperation with China in fighting against cross-border crimes, saying his agency will continue friendly cooperation with Chinese Public Security Ministry.
