Moon cake price drops this year

The price of moon cakes dropped and luxurious package problem was basically solved, according to the State Development and Reform Commission.

According to the investigation of 111 moon cake manufacturers, the price when leaving factories dropped 14.1 percent compared with last year. Most moon cakes cost below 200 yuan (25 US dollars).

The quality of moon cakes was improved, according to the supervision in Guangdong, Chongqing, Shanghai, Tianjin and Beijing.

Luxurious package of moon cakes gradually eliminated out of the market. Most moon cakes were wrapped in paper boxes.

The Mid-autumn festival, a traditional Chinese festival, will fall on Sept. 18 this year according to lunar calendar. Eating moon cake is a must for Chinese people amidst their family reunion.
