Senior CPC leader visits non-communist nonagenarians in ShanghaiSenior leader Jia Qinglin visited four non-communist nonagenarians living in Shanghai this week, extending sincere greetings and best wishes to them on behalf of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and General Secretary Hu Jintao. Jia, a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, first visited modern Chinese writer Ba Jin, 102, in Huadong Hospital and thanked him for his outstanding contributions to China's literature during his whole life. Ba Jin is a vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee. Jia then visited honorable chairman of the China Zhigong Party Dong Yinchu, who is 90; honorary chairman of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League Qian Weichang, 93, who is also president of Shanghai University; and 97-year-old Tan Jiazhen, a world famous geneticist and also honorable chairman of the China Democratic League.
