The newspapers spoke highly of Hu's performance during the three-day summit. Local leading Chinese-language newspapers all splashed their front pages with Hu delivering a speech at Wednesday's summit. "Hu Jintao Delivers Speech at UN General Assembly: No Threat From China" was the headline of the Daily World. The story laid emphasis on Hu's statement that China's development will not pose any threat to any people. The frontpage article in the China Press was headlined "Hu Jintao Proposes Creation of A Harmonious World." The Sing Tao Daily noted that Hu put forward a proposal for striving to establish a harmonious world for the first time at such international occasions as a United Nations summit. The newspaper ran an article under the headline "China's Development Is Conducive To World Peace." Hu has laid stress on the establishment of a harmonious society in his own country and now advocates a harmonious world on the diplomatic front. These approaches are well-coordinated, the article said. The paper quoted American scholars as describing Hu's trip to the UN as "very successful." The media also gave extensive coverage to Hu's meeting with US President George W. Bush. Hu's performance at the meeting showed he has an accurate grasp of the key problems between China and the United States as well as other major world issues. Hu demonstrated skilful diplomacy which also showed self-confidence, said the papers. Source: Xinhua |
