Chinese state councillor urges use of Internet in making governmental work transparent
font size

Hua Jianmin, a state councillor and secretary general of the State Council, or the Chinese central government, underscores the role of Internet technology in supervision and control over governmental administration in the city of Shenzhen, in southern Guangdong Province on Saturday.

Local government departments must open their websites to publicize their work and governance affairs and set e-mails and BBS to make their work increasingly transparent, Hua said after viewing the demonstration on how to use Internet for supervision and control of the governmental work in cities of Shenzhen and Suzhou and Shandong and Fujian provinces in east China and Shaanxi Province in northwest China.

"E-commerce should also be used and promoted to ensure fair trade and increase trade efficiency," Hua said.
