Nepal praises China radio service for enhancing ties

China Radio International (CRI)Nepali Service can be considered as a milestone of the friendship between Nepal and China, a senior Nepali official said here Sunday.

"As a friend, China has been assisting Nepal in its development endeavors and Nepali media persons can learn a lot from CRI," Sinate Shrestha, assistant minister for Education and Sports of Nepal, said at a prize awarding ceremony organized by the National Council of CRI Listeners Clubs' - Nepal (NCCRILCN), a non-governmental friendship organization.

"Since its first broadcasting in 1975, CRI Nepali Service has served as a bridge between our two peoples and has made great contributions to deepening the people to people relations," Wang Wentian, Chinese counsellor to Nepal, said.

A total of 60 Nepali listeners won different categories prizes at a quiz contest organized by CRI Nepali Service to mark the Golden Jubilee of Nepal-China diplomatic ties and the 30th anniversary of CRI Nepali Service.

CRI started its Nepali language service since June 25, 1975, broadcasting three times a day. There are more than 500 listeners clubs of CRI in Nepal, working as friendship organizations, and NCCRILCN is an umbrella organization for them.
