Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao Sunday visited families of late scientist Qian Sanqiang and late model worker Zhang Binggui to extend greetings of the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival.
Known as Chinese Curies, Qian and his wife He Zehui are the founders of the Chinese atomic industry.
"Thank you for coming to see me as you are very busy," He Zehui offered a seat to Wen, holding his hands. "Those who contributed and are contributing to the country should not be forgotten," Wen told her while handing her moon cakes and flowers.
Zhang Binggui, a salesman with the Beijing Wangfujing Department Store, was widely admired and respected for his good skill of measuring goods.
"Many labors have been making great contributions to the country's development in ordinary positions, including Zhang," Wen said to Zhang's wife, 82-year-old Cui Xiuping. "His spirit is still alive though he passed away. The spirit must be passed down from generation to generation," Wen said.
