Senior CPC official starts visit to Japan

Chen Liangyu, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, left Shanghai Sunday for a friendly visit to Japan.

Chen, also secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, is invited by the Japan-China Economic Association and the Japan Association for the 2005 World Expo.

Chen will attend the "Shanghai Week" in the Expo 2005 Aichi. Shanghai will host the 2010 World Expo.
