Since China implemented the Eleventh Five-Year Plan, Ministry of Railways and Jilin province have jointly invested 46 billion yuan in accelerating the development of railway in the province. The signing ceremony for the project was held in Changchun, capital city of Jilin province on Sep 18.

The railways in Jilin province are age-old, with outdated and backward facilities and equipments, lacking proper renovation and timely re-construction over the past years. Relevant departments in Jilin province and Ministry of Railways have jointly worked out the renovation scheme for the development of railway in the province during the Eleventh Five-Year period.

There are totally 16 projects in the scheme, including the construction of Harbin-Dalian special railway and the eastern railway channel in northeast China, etc.

The ministry and Jilin province will work together to gradually implement the scheme during the Eleventh Five-Year period. Jilin province is mainly responsible for relocation of residence and compensation for demolition, and Ministry of Railway takes charge of all the construction.
