The awarding ceremony of the Second "Guangming Public Benefit Prize", sponsored by Guangming Daily, and jointly organized by Ketchum Newscan, etc., was held on September 15 in Beijing.

Li Meng, vice chairman of the National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Zhang Yinzhong, Vice Minister of Civil Affairs and Gou Tianlin, chief editor of Guangming Daily, attended the ceremony at invitation.

20 transnational companies, including Motorola, DaimlerChrysler, Carrefour, Kimberly-Clark, Samsung, Siemens and Microsoft, won the award.

They were selected according to a survey among more than 180 companies' public benefit activities in China and singled out by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, the State Council Information Office and the State Administration of Industry and Commerce.

The prize was specially established on the performance of transnational companies in public benefit in China. Global top 500 and the top 50 in various industries are among the candidates. The prize was first awarded in 2004.
