font size

Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo said Monday evening that the Philippine government pays great attention to the construction of Chinese financed Metro North Rail Project north of Metro Manila.

In an interview with Philippine Star publisher Max V. Soliven broadcast from the Malacanang presidential palace, Arroyo said Philippine Vice President Noli de Castro has been spending a lot of time on this project and "so far has been doing a good job."

"We have been paying a lot of attention to the relocation of the squatter families. Vice President Noli de Castro said that he may probably have the contractor begin reconstruction by October," Arroyo said.

China has agreed to provide 400 million US dollars of credit loan to finance the Metro North Rail Project which is aimed at providing efficient public transportation from Metro Manila to the surrounding provinces to the north of the capital region.
