The opening ceremony for the "Shanghai Week" of Expo 2005 Aichi was held on September 19.

Shanghai vice mayor Zhou Yupeng announced that Chinese basketball star Yao Ming was invited to be the image representative for 2010 Shanghai Expo.

In his speech, Yao Ming said he would devote himself all-out to the global promotion for Shanghai Expo.
