According to the latest statistics provided by the Shanghai customs, total foreign trade through the Shanghai port reached $223.43 billion during the first eight months, increasing by 25 percent year on year and setting a new record for the same period of the year.
State-owned enterprises kept a growth trend amidst steady development, registering $51.44 billion or a 10.2 percent increase in foreign trade.
Foreign-funded businesses still dominated the foreign trade in the Shanghai port. They registered $139.62 billion in foreign trade, increasing by 26.2 percent and accounting for 62.5 percent of the port's volume.
Private businesses still kept their strong growth, registering $23.7 billion in foreign trade or an increase of 67.3 percent - the highest among various kinds of businesses.
