Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing held talks with world diplomats Wednesday on the sidelines of the 60th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

During his meeting with Pakistani Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri, Li said that Chinese President Hu Jintao and Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf have achieved important consensus recently, which gives new impetus for the development of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Next year will witness the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan, Li said.

He hoped that both sides will seize this opportunity and turn into action the consensus of the two top leaders to promote the sustainable and comprehensive partnership between China and Pakistan.

When holding talks with the minister-level delegation of the Non-Aligned Movement, Li reiterated China's position on the Palestine issue, vowing that China will continue to play an active part in the international efforts to secure a peaceful solution to the issue and to play a constructive role in realizing lasting peace in the Middle East.

When meeting with the European Troika foreign ministers, Li said the 8th EU-China summit yielded substantial results and hopefully, both sides would be able to do the follow-up work well to push forward their all-round cooperative partnership from a strategic height.

In the meeting with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshiar al-Zibari, Li said China will strengthen its traditional friendship with Iraq in accordance with the principles of mutual respect, mutual benefit and equality, and enhance comprehensive communication and cooperation between the two countries.

Li stressed that China will continue to provide assistance, to the best of its ability, to help Iraq's reconstruction.

Li also met his counterparts of Australia, Vietnam, Belgium, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Poland, Peru, Bhutan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

On Tuesday, Li met with Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos, South Korean Foreign Minister Ban Ki Moon, Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa and his six counterparts of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) which groups Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
