China, Thailand to build strategic economic partnership in five years

The Second Meeting of the Joint Committee on Trade, Investment and Economic Cooperation between China and Thailand has resulted in a joint effort from both countries to build a strategic economic partnership within five years, said a press conference Thursday in Chiangmai, Thailand.

Accordingly, the two parties have agreed to raise their bilateral trade target to US$50 billion, their bilateral investment target to US$6.5 billion and a combined tourist target of 4 million visitors by 2010.

In order to achieve the desired target, the two parties hereafter have agreed on the following:

First, the signing of the Agreed Record of the Second Meeting of the Joint Committee on Trade, Investment and Economic Cooperation between Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and Madame Wu Yi, vice premier of the People's Republic of China.

Second, the signing of the Protocol on Quarantine and Sanitary Requirements for Crocodile Meet Exporter from Thailand to China between Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives of the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and Mr. Li Changjiang, Minister of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China.

Third, the signing of the Protocol on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Requirements of Import and Export of Fresh Vegetable between Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives of the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and Mr. Li Changjiang, Minister of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China.

Fourth, the singing of the Protocol on Quarantine and Health Requirements for Import and Export of Heat-Processed Poultry Meat and Edible Parts between Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives of the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and Mr. Li Changjiang, Minister of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China.
