About 99.4 billion HK dollars ( 12.74 billion US dollars) of Hong Kong's total exports to the mainland in the second quarter were for outward processing, down 2percent over a year earlier, the Hong Kong Census & Statistics Department said Thursday.

The value of domestic exports to the mainland for outward processing fell 13 percent to 5.6 billion HK dollars (724.36 million US dollars) while the value of re-exports dipped one percent to 93.7 billion HK dollars (12.01 billion US dollars).

The value of imports from the mainland related to outward processing grew one percent to 163.4 billion HK dollars (20.95 billion US dollars), while 186.2 billion HK dollars (23.87 billionUS dollars) of the city's re-exports of mainland origin to other places were produced through outward processing on the mainland, up 12 percent, it said.

In the first half of the year, 178.1 billion HK dollars (22.83 billion US dollars) of Hong Kong's total exports to the mainland were for outward processing, up 3 percent over the same period last year, added the department.
