Bush asks Jordan's king to visit Israeli, Palestinian leaders
font size

US President George W. Bush met Jordan's King Abdullah on Thursday and said he requested the Jordan monarch to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas to help the Middle East peace process.

"One of the things I asked His Majesty to do is to go to visit with Prime Minister Sharon and President Abbas, to help in the peace process there. And he has graciously agreed to go," Bush said after they met at the White House.

"I want to thank you for taking a leadership role. It'll be very helpful to have your voice of reason there to talk to both leaders," Bush said.

For his part, Abdullah said that it will be a great honor to offer help in the Middle East peace process.

"I know that you want to find a solution that the Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace and harmony," Abdullah told Bush.
